Fischer-Tropsch synthesis over lignin-derived cobalt-containing porous carbon fiber catalysts

Cobalt-containing lignin-based fibers were synthesized in one step by electrospinning of Alcell lignin solutions as carbon precursor, a low-cost and renewable co-product the paper making industry. The thermostabilized air to avoid fusion during carbonization process between 500-800 ºC obtain cobalt-containing porous submicron fibers. These catalysts studied for Low-Temperature Fischer-Tropsch synthesis. lignin-derived containing Co catalyst located on overall fiber surface (internal external) heat-treated at 500 ([email protected]) showed best catalytic performance after 70 h stream, with 75 60% selectivity C5+ 220 H2/CO ratios 1 2, respectively, attributed high dispersion, optimal Co-particle size better accessibility. Higher heat-treatment temperatures leaded Co-containing larger metallic cobalt nanoparticles encapsulated graphitic-type carbon, which rendered them inaccessible FTS.
